Kwara Compensates Land Owners

The Kwara Government has paid N3.8 million compensation to the Ogbondoroko community in Asa Local Government Area of the state for the acquisition of their land for development project.

A statement quoted the Director- General of Bureau Lands, Yusuf Abdulwahab, as saying that government paid the amount following the acquisition of 3.9 hectares from the people.

The statement, issued by the Press Secretary of the agency, Mr Moshood Abdulraufu, said it was the constitutional duty of government to pay compensation for land acquired for public use.

Abdulwahab said that 12 families benefited from the money, while others would soon receive their payments.
He said that the land was acquired for Inner Galaxy International Company, which proposed to invest in the state.

Abdulwahab said that establishing a factory in the area would have multiplier effect on the social and economic activities of the state.

He appealed to the communities in the state to be tolerant and accommodating to attract investments to their areas.
