Aliyu Bahago Ahman Patigi, Former Kwara Lawmaker and University Founder, Passes Away
The family of the former lawmaker announced his passing in a statement on Thursday. "His contributions to education and politics will be remembered. May his family and loved ones find comfort during this difficult time," the statement said.
Patigi was widely known for advocating development in his community and improving the socio-economic conditions of his constituents. One of his major achievements was the founding of Ahman Pategi University in 2021, which was named after his father, a former First Republic Minister of Agriculture and Health.
As the university's pro-chancellor, Patigi played a significant role in its growth and championed educational initiatives that aimed to benefit the North Central region, especially the Nupe community in his hometown.
The people of Kwara and Nigeria at large mourn the loss of a leader whose legacy in both education and politics will continue to inspire.
