Kwara JUSUN call off strike
The Judicial Staff Union of Nigeria, Kwara State chapter, has called off its almost two-week old strike.
Chairperson of JUSUN in the state, Mrs. Folake Laaro, said this in Ilorin on Friday.
The body had been on strike in protest against the reinstatement of the state Chief Judge, Justice Raliat Elelu-Habeeb.
The CJ was reinstated by the Supreme Court penultimate Friday.
Laaro said the judicial workers would resume work on Monday, adding that their strike since Feb 20, had no political undertone, but was based on the agitation for better welfare package.
She said the body had been given an assurance that its members' welfare needs and grievances would be looked into, adding that the union would work harmoniously with the CJ in the interest of peace and justice.
Laaro stated that the decision was a fall-out of the intervention of the state government, eminent retired judicial officers in the state and the national secretariat of JUSUN.
She said the government's delegation at the meeting was led by Kwara Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Kamaldeen Ajibade; while the elders' team consisted of a Supreme Court retired jurist, Justice Sa'idu Kawu; a former President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Mustapha Akanbi; a former Grand Khadi of the state, Justice Abdulkadir Orire; and Justice Saka Yusuf.
