Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Abdulganiyu Ambali, on Monday said he would expel any student affiliated with any cult group or unregistered organisation on the campus.

Ambali said this during the 2012/2013 matriculation ceremony for 7,098 students of the university. "I will strongly advise you to desist from joining unregistered and secret associations wherever they are because the penalty is expulsion," he said.

The school's Faculty of Science recorded the highest number of new students with 2,019 matriculating while the least came from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine with 11 students.

Ambali said 64, 121 candidates scored 200 and above in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) while 8,093 candidates were offered admission with 7,098 registered for the matriculation.

He said the students that hard work would determine the success they would achieve in future, adding that the university had 23 First Class graduates in 2011 while a record number of 37 had first class in 2012.
