Kwara Government Partners REDAN to Avoid Incessant Building Collapse
The Kwara State Government is poised to partner with the Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria (REDAN), Kwara Chapter, to prevent members from contravening the set standard of building construction, to avoid incessant collapse of buildings in the state.
The Executive Chairman of Kwara State Geographic Information Service, ESV Abdulkareem Babatunde Sulyman said this in Ilorin, recently when the chairman and members of the Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria, paid a courtesy call to him.
According to Sulyman, the contravention includes; noncompliance with the government-approved plan, encroachment on service areas reserved for infrastructure, and selling of lands not properly registered among others.
“In view of this the agency will be ready to collaborate with any association willing to contribute to the development plan of Mallam AbdulRahaman AbdulRazaq led Administration. We are therefore partners in progress at providing housing units to the people of Kwara State”, he said.
Sulyman, thereafter, assured the association of KW-GIS' support, by ensuring that appropriate sanctions are effected on those not complying with the development of Ilorin New Master Plan.
Earlier, the State Chairman, of the Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria, Mr. Kamar Abioye, explained that they came to familiarise themselves with the agency to enhance a robust and fantastic estate development in the state.
Abioye also solicited for a strong synergy with the State Geographic Information Service, to phase out quacks, adding that, the association would forward the full list of its registered members to the agency in due course for easy identification and disciplinary actions against erring members.
He appealed to the executive chairman of the agency to consider partnering with the Real Estate Developers, especially now that the state government is embarking on SmartCity Estate.
