Prof. Mohammed Akanbi, Head of Department, Business Law, Univeristy of Ilorin, said in Ilorin that the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) was not doing enough to fight corruption in Nigeria.

Akanbi told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday that the association was a major stakeholder in the fight against corruption and must champion the cause diligently.

"The nigerian bar association is being ceremonial in the fight against corruption in Nigeria.

"The NBA is not proactive and that is not good enough," he said.

The former Dean of the Faculty of Law said the fight against corruption was a collective responsibility and advised Nigerians to join in the war.

He bemoaned the handling of high profile corrution cases in which people indicted still walked the street as free men.

Akanbi said there was need to punish corrupt people to deter others.

He appealed to the Federal Government to give more attention to the power sector and develop infrastructure, to meet the yearnings of the people in 2013.
