Minimum Wage: Kwara Denies Report
In a Statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the State's Head of Service (HOS), Alhaji Abdulfatah Dan Kazeem, KWSG explained that Kwara State started the payment of the N18,000 minimum wage since August 1st, 2011 under the agreement between the State Government and the leadership of the Trade Unions.
The Statement affirmed that the report linking the State Government with non-implementation of the national minimum wage was embarrassing, untrue and unfair to the State Government as it is capable of inciting labour against government.
The Kwara State Government noted that it enjoys harmonious relationship with all trade unions in the State as a result of its labour friendly disposition.
The State Government expressed that its labour friendly disposition remains unwavered as it will continue to ensure regular and prompt payment of workers' salaries, training and retraining of workers as well as access to various forms of loan facilities.
