Foundation Procures Tractor For Farmers In Kwara State LGAs

Date: 2023-06-05

Muhydeen Okunlola Kayode Foundation (MOK), a non-governmental philanthropic organisation in Offa Local Government of Kwara, has provided a tractor on charity to farmers at the grassroots to boost food production.

The foundation disclosed the intervention to the beneficiaries during a meeting with the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) in Offa and Oyun Local Government branches in their head office on Saturday in Offa, Kwara State.

One of the officials, Mr Saheed Lawal, noted that the foundation noticed the challenges facing farmers and deemed it fit to enhance food production in the community by assisting local farmers to solve financial challenges of hiring tractor to work on their farmlands.

Lawal explained that the foundation has no affiliation with politics or any political party.
He added that the tractor was solely procured by the convener of the MOK Foundation to ease the suffering of the farmers who are not buoyant to run mechanised farming.

Lawal emphasised that all of the foundation's charity programmes are devoid of politics, religion and ethnic influence.

Mr Tewog Bola, another member of the foundation, revealed that the idea of buying a tractor to assist farmers is to increase food production in rural communities and extend the foundation's charity to farmers in the locality.

He said the tractor was procured to reach out to the farmers and urged AFAN to work with the foundation by incorporating farmers who are not financially fit to hire tractors for farming.

Speaking on behalf of AFAN, the National Vice President of the association, Mr Ajibola Tajudeen, commended MOK Foundation for rendering great assistance to farmers.

Tajudeen noted that the foundation had succeeded in performing the core role of government.

He prayed for God's elevation and progress of the foundation in all ramifications.

Similarly, the Chairman of AFAN in Offa Local Government Area, Mr Isiaq Adekeye, also lauded the foundation for supporting food production in the locality through mechanised farming assistance.

Adekeye said the Foundation had done a remarkable job, saying “no private individual has ever come to the aid of farmers by procuring a tractor to enhance their farming system for free”.

He said the MOK farming intervention would not only assist the farmers, but boost economic activities in the community through food production.

He prayed for the progress of the founder of the foundation who bought the tractor out of charity to alleviate poverty and make life better for people at the grassroots.

While unveiling the tractor, the AFAN members in Offa and Oyun local government areas jointly prayed for the foundation and the executives for making life meaningful for the less privileged and people living with disabilities.

The MOK Foundation, as part of its efforts to give back to the society, embarked on feeding programme by distributing foodstuffs to the less privileged, cash disbursement programme to small scale businesses and market women, and free healthcare programme to assist people with health challenges.

The foundation also initiated scholarship programme by paying National Examination Council (NECO) fees of many indigent students in Offa and Oyun local government areas of Kwara state.
