Community Dev will Curb Insecurity - Rep
A House of Representatives member representing Ilorin East/South constituency of Kwara State, Dr Ali Ahmad, yesterday launched a N3 million revolving loan for selected youths in his constituency.
Ahmad, the chairman, House Committee on Judiciary, also disbursed unspecified amount of money as Christmas gifts to Christian clerics, 35 youths and 70 widows.
He identified community development and poverty alleviation as effective tools in addressing youth restiveness and improving the security of lives and property of citizens.
The lawmaker said he launched the revolving loan in commemoration of the 50th birthday of former governor Bukola Saraki whom he described as his political mentor.
He said the difficulty in securing white collar jobs for the youths made the launching of the revolving loan imperative, advising the beneficiaries to utilize the fund on profitable ventures that would turn around the lives of their families.
