Press Release: Nigeria Computer Society Inaugurates Kwara State New Executives Council

The national leadership of the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) has formally inaugurated a new Executive Council for the Kwara State Branch of the Society. The ceremony which held on Monday 15th May, 2023 saw Engineer Taofik Abdulkareem of Plat Technologies, emerging as the State Chairman.

The inauguration ceremony which was held virtually and physically at the Kwara State University, (KWASU) Centre for Digital Economy was coordinated by NCS Deputy National President, Dr. Muhammad Sirajo Aliyu who administered the oath of office to the new Branch Chairman, Engineer Taofik Abdulkareem who thereafter administered the oath of office to other members of the state Executive Branch of the Society.

In his remarks, the National President of NCS, Prof Adesina Simon Sodiya congratulated the new executive members and urged them to promote the deepening of ICT skills and utilisation as the policy thrust of NCS. He also admonished them to be diligent, transparent and to place the interest of the Society above personal interests.

The newly inaugurated executive members are Engineer Taofik Abdulkareem, CEO of Plat Technologies Limited as Chairman; Dr Amos Bajeh, Computer Science Dept and the Sub- Dean of the Faculty of Information and Communication Sciences, University of Ilorin as the Vice Chairman; Dr James Ayeni, of Kwara Polytechnic, Ilorin, the Secretary; Dr. Mrs Jumoke F. Ajao, Dept. of Computer Science, (KWASU), Treasurer; Mrs Rachael Obisesan from College of Education (COED),Ilorin, Financial Secretary; Mr. Taofik Abiodun Ahmed (HOD Computer Science) from College of Arabic and Islamic Legal Studies, (CAILS)Ilorin as the PRO I and Dr Mrs Shururat Olatinwo, from the Federal Polytechnic, Offa, (Fedpoffa), the PRO II.

In his inaugural address, the new Chairman, Engineer Taofik Abdulkareem, indicated his readiness to map out plans to engage all stakeholders in deepening ICT usage. He promised that the Executive under his leadership will actively engage the Kwara State Government on policy directions and advance the cause of members in the academia, public service and the industry as well as engaging students across training institutions.

The event was attended by the Zonal Coordinator (North Central) Mr. Bayo Mohammed Onimode, immediate past Chairman, Kwara State Council, Mallam Abdulkadir Bolakale Sakariyah, members of the previous executives and members from the academia, public service and the industry.
