Two Remanded For Burglary In Kwara
A magistrate court in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, has remanded two suspects, Olaide Abdulganiyu and Sam-son Akintunde over alleged burglary.
They were brought to court on four-count charges of criminal conspiracy, trespass, house breaking by night and theft contrary to 97, 349, 355 and 287 of the Penal Code.
According to the Police First Information Report, the suspects allegedly broke into the rooms of their victims through the back windows and carted away several expensive android phones, a wrist watch, hand chain, bluetooth earpiece valued at 240,000 among others.
“The tracking of one of the phones led to the arrest of the suspects. The mother of the second suspect testified that her son (Akintunde) was a thief who specialised in house burglary while Segun is at large. They are the criminals terrorising the people of Aiyetoro, Asa-Dam, Aiyetoro and its environs”, the charge sheet added.
Prosecutor, Ayeni Gbenga, urged the court to remand the suspects.
In her ruling, Magistrate Gbadeyan Kamson heeded the plea of the prosecutor and ordered their remand at the correctional centre, Ilorin, and adjourned until January 23, 2023.
