Kwara Govt sponsors youths for technical training
The Kwara Government has assured its readiness to sponsor youths at International Vocational Technical and Entrepreneurship College (IVTEC), Ajase Ipo, in order to reduce unemployed youths in the state.
This is contained in a statement issued by Mr Rafiu Ajakaye, the Chief Press Secretary to Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, on Monday in Ilorin.
AbdulRazaq said the programme is designed to promote viable and measurable occupational skills training to increase the effectiveness of the government efforts at combating youth unemployment
He said the programme would eradicate poverty, generate employment, and increase entrepreneurship opportunities among the teeming youths in the state.
He said that the government in collaboration with IVTEC announced the commencement of admissions for the Third Batch of 20212022 Youth Empowerment and Employment Generation Scheme.
According to him, the programme entails an intensive 3- month in-centre training, followed by a mandatory three months industrial attachment at the appropriate.
“In addition, the Kwara State Government will provide the following for the beneficiaries of the programme: Full tuition fee scholarship, Monthly stipend of N5,000 each for 6 months.
“Others are Personal Protective Equipment, training consumables, Start-up package after completion of the programme.
“Available training areas in the scheme include Automotive Mechanics, Carpentry, Masonry, Plumbing and Electrical Installations and Maintenance, among others.
“Interested candidates between the ages of 18 and 35 should log on to https://www.ivtec.edu.ng/ and follow the prompt to complete the application process.
“Beneficiaries will be drawn from all the sixteen local government areas of the state.
“All beneficiaries at the end of the training would have acquired the requisite skills to make a better living either as gainfully employed tradesmen or as entrepreneurs,” he said.
