Nupe Day: Etsu Nupe, Others Seek Prayers To End COVID-19

As the entire people of Nupe land mark Nupe Day, today, the Etsu Nupe and chairman, Niger State Coun?cil of Traditional Rulers, Al?haji (Dr) Yahaya Abubakar and other traditional rulers in Nupe land , have called for prayers for peace, develop?ment and an end to the coro?navirus pandemic.

LEADERSHIP Friday re?ports that the day is always celebrated on every 26th June, with royal fathers of Nupe land and elders cut?ting across Niger, Kwara and Kogi States coming together for the unity and progress of Nupe land. In a statement issued yes?terday by the chairman, Pub?licity Committee of Nupe Day, Alhaji Mohammed Kudu Abubakar, he said that the royal fathers from Nupe land had felicitated with all sons and daughters of Nupe and and friends of Nupe worldwide on the occasion of the celebration of this year's Nupe Day.

"Instead of pomp and pageantry that normally char?acterises the celebration of this glorious occasion of Nupe Day by all Nupe people worldwide, the royal fathers of KinNupe enjoined all and sundry to pray for peace, de?velopment and coronavirus?free Nupe land as well as the entire nation," he said.

The statement added that, "prayers are scheduled to hold as follows; On Friday, 26th June, 2020, Muslims are to conduct special prayers for KinNupe shortly after the Juma'at congregational prayers. On Sunday, 28th June, 2020, Christian faith?ful to conduct special prayer service in churches for Kin?Nupe.

"The royal fathers use this occasion to once again re?mind all Nupe people that CONVID-19 is real, deadly and there is no known cure for now. The only way to keep safe is to be guided by medical advice," he said.
