Abdulsalam out for six months after successful surgery

Date: 2020-03-21

General Manager of Kwara United, Bashir Badawiy, gave an update on the injury of club's winger, Abdulsalam Abdulsalam, saying that the player had undergone a successful surgery at the General Hospital in Ilorin.

Abdulsalam, who was on the field of play for only two minutes, fractured his left leg during a match against Wikki Tourists on Sunday in Ilorin and was immediately taken to the hospital, where he was scheduled for a surgery for Thursday.

The winger's serious injury marred his team's 1-0 victory as there was tension and panic among teammates, fans and even the opponents.

Badawiy told Saturday PUNCH that the player was successfully operated on but added he had being ruled out for six months.

"We are happy that he had a smooth surgery and we hope that he recuperates fast for him to start training," Badawiy said.

'It is unfortunate that he will be out for six months but we are with him and we will continue to support him.'

Kwara United Chairman, Kumbi Titiloye; Secretary, Hamidu Olowo and Badawiy all visited Abdulsalam on Friday after his operation.

Meanwhile, Kwara United are currently 19th in the table and will be hoping to continue their fight to move up the table and avoid relegation when the league resumes with two home games against Nasarawa United and Kano Pillars.
