Kwara LP guber candidate hails Buhari's promise of inclusive govt

Labour Party, LP, governorship candidate in Kwara State for next month governorship election, Issa Aremu, has lauded re-elected President Muhammadu Buhari for his statesmanship by promising to run an all-inclusive government.

Aremu, in his address at a stakeholders meeting in Ilorin, yesterday, comprising LP officials, organised labour, market men and women, tailors, students, people living with disabilities among others, said President Buhari's statement was an indication of his true statesmanship.

He said the outcome of the just concluded presidential election showed that majority of Nigerians were on the side of President Buhari, and asked him to fulfill his promise of ensuring inclusive governance when inaugurated for second term in office on May 29 this year.

He also congratulated Buhari for emerging as the President of Nigeria in a keenly contested, peaceful and free Presidential election.

Aremu equally commended Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, and other contestants for coming out to contest and canvassing for votes, noting that there could not be a winner without contestants.

The LP candidate, who observed that there was no loser in the last elections, said all the 84.2 million voters registered were winners, saying: "There is no loser in the last election. The winners are Nigerians namely 84.2 million registered men and women voters and 200 million Nigerians who have reaffirmed faith in democracy."

Scholarship for 5-year-old boy

Aremu who made an extensive tour of his Baboko Ward in a door-to-door campaign, visited the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, his mother, Umaa Alhaja Aishat Sulu Gambari, and traditional title holders in Baboko ward, which include Daudu Fagba, Daudu Fufu, Daudu Eruda, Magaji Ogoo and Daudu Ajasa.

The governorship hopeful who was fascinated with the warm reception accorded him by people of his ward, including children, pledged to offer scholarship to a five-year-old Abdulsalam Ridwan from primary up to university level.

He said the little boy was struggling to meet him during his visit to Ile-Omo Compound, Eruda area on Tuesday, but was prevented by elderly ones and requested that the boy be brought to him.

Aremu did not only give the boy money but also promised to offer him scholarship.
