Sunday Akinmoladun unhappy despite Kwara United's away draw

Date: 2018-05-16

After their 1-1 draw with the Ikon Allah Boys, the Harmony Warriors man feels sad his side failed to earn a win in Minna.

Kwara United defender Sunday Akinmoladun was disappointed despite his team's secured a point after their 1-1 draw against Niger Tornadoes at the Bako Kontagora Stadium.

The Harmony Warriors subdued Yobe Desert Stars 2-1 to ease their relegation fears a week ago and they almost climbed out of the drop zone after Segun Alebiosu's first-half strike in Minna.

However, Eric Frimpong rescued the hosts from defeat when he leveled matters in the 63rd minute to dent the visitors' ambitions of securing the first away win of the season.

And the fustrated defender, who left the Minna based boys to join Abubakar Bala's side in April, insists they were unlucky to claim a win, but he remains upbeat about their top-flight survival.

"I am really not happy with our draw against Niger Tornadoes," Akinmoladun told Goal.

"I think that we were by far the better side on the pitch in Minna and deserved to have the three points considering our performance.

"We came here with great determination and hope to win but things didn't work out as planned for us. I must say that Tornadoes were very lucky to get a point.

"It is not over for us. We will keep fighting to survive relegation because our position is not where we belong but we will not relent in working hard to pick more points."

The draw saw Kwara United drop to 19th on the log with 23 points from 21 games this season.
