Man in Trouble for Assaulting Policemen
A 27-year old man, Solomon Peter who allegedly assaulted two police men while carrying out their lawful duty has been charged before an llorin magistrate court.
The accused of No 29, Kiama road Ode-Adua Ilorin, was dragged before the court on a three-count charge of criminal force, Assault and obstructing public servant in the discharge of duty.
The accused allegedly committed the offences on August 29, 2012 when he beat up the officers who were executing court judgment at the residence of the accused.
Police apprehended the accused after the officers; Corporal Ekundayo Salihu and Constable Olatunji Oladipo both attached to Magistrate court llorin lodged a complaint at the Area Command office of the Nigeria Police llorin metropolis that the accused obstructed them from carrying out their official duty.
According to the officers, the accused criminally used force and inflicted wounds on their bodies as a result of which he tore their uniform.
Police First Information Report (FIR) on the matter stated that the accused committed the offences which contradict sections 265 and 149 of penal code.
The Prosecutor, Al-Hassan Jubril who submitted that the offences were ordinarily bailable, objected to the bail of the accused and urged the court to remand him in prison pending the outcome of investigation
The trial judge, Mrs. Ibijoke Olawoyin ruled that the accused be remanded at the Federal Medium Security Prison, Mandala llorin, until September 13 when the matter will come up for mentioning.
