KWSG dispels rumor on alleged charges levied against civil servants before promotion

Date: 2018-01-26

The Kwara State Government has described as untrue the rumor making the rounds that civil servants in the state are been charged exorbitant money to pay for their promotion examination .

The State Head of Service, Mrs Modupe Oluwole dispelled this rumor today (Thursday) in her office during an interview with newsmen.

Mrs Oluwole explained that what the state government was planning was to focus more on enhancing professionalism of civil servants in the state in their various areas of discipline in line with the directive of the National Council on Establishment which is the regulatory body for civil servants.

The Head of Service added that it has been categorically spelt out in the scheme of service that any civil servant that wants to be promoted , must go for training which is self enhancing which has been the perucusite for promotion and wondered why it's now been politicized , though she declared that the training programme is not mandatory for all civil servants but rather voluntary.

She also said civil servants are not forced to attend the Staff Training Centre (SDC) for the training programme but rather any institution of their choice .

Mrs Oluwole stressed further that due to the interest the state governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed has for the training and retraining of the civil servants in the state, the government earmarked the sum of two hundred million Naira for the programme in this year's budget .

She therefore warned against the spreading of unfounded or unconfirmed rumor particularly by those in the opposition .
