Kwara state generates N17.4billion in ten months

Date: 2017-11-16

The Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KWIRS) has generated a sum of seventeen point four billion Naira from January to October this year.

The Executive Chairman of the Service, Doctor Murtala Awodun disclosed this while speaking with newsmen in Ilorin.

According to him, the Service will generate over twenty billion Naira this year, pointing out that the revenue generation had improved tremendously.

Doctor Awodun explained that the State is rated seventh in the country revenue and third in the revenue ratio to the federal allocation among the thirty six states of the federation.

He noted that the improvement was sequel to the blockage of loopholes in the revenue drive and fundamental process team of the Service which shored up the revenue.

On the local government's revenue, Doctor Awodun said there is thirty percent improvement in the revenue drive of the local governments and identified lack of substantial chairmen and other executive members as factors responsible for low revenue.

He appreciated the support of the people of the state particularly on the payment of taxes, saying that through the infrastructure development fund Kwara, tax payers would enjoy projects that would have direct impact on them.
