Abduction: Kwara Labour Party goes spiritual over Omotosho's mum

Date: 2017-11-09

The leadership of the Kwara state chapter of Labour Party (LP) on Wednesday in Ilorin sought God's intervention for the safe release of Mrs Elizabeth Omotosho, mother of its national chairman, Dr Mike Omotosho.

Mrs Omotosho was kidnapped by four suspected gunmen at her family residence, Tanke, Ilorin, Kwara State.

Speaking to newsmen shortly after the prayer to seek for the divine intervention held at its party secretaries along Offa garage road, the acting state chairman of the party, Comrade AbdulKareem Mumini Onagun said the essence was to ensure the early release and return of the victim.

He said the party is not begrudging anyone or group over the incident adding that the government should provide adequate and maximum security to safeguard the lives of it citizens.

He also charged politicians and political office holders to fulfill their election promises to the electorate.

"The essence of the prayer is to ensure the early release and return of our mother, Mrs Elizabeth Omotosho that was kidnapped by suspected gunmen on Sunday.

"We feel we should go spiritual in the sense that whatever happened to man, it is with the knowledge of Almighty Allah.

"We strongly don't believe we should begrudge anybody, group or individual for this happening because no leaf drops except with the knowledge of Allah.

"We believe there is the need for us to embark on this prayer because our National Chairman himself, Dr Mike Olufemi Omotosho believed in the efficacy of Prayer and we would remember during the state's 50 year anniversary, he called the Muslims and Christian clerics to pray for the state and the nation at large.

"And since we do not have gold, silver or money to give him, we believe that helping him with prayer for our mother to be treated nicely and humanly so that nothing bad befell her before her return. And for Almighty Allah to actually touch the mind of the abductors so that very shortly, she will come and joined the family and all of us back in good health and unhurt".

He appealed "to the federal government to as a matter of urgency holistically do something about the security situation in the country. The issue should not be taken with levity.

There is the need for government to look at the issue of unemployment to curb kidnapping because when people are gainfully employed, they easily take to crime. We want them to exercise the political will to address the problem.

He called on the government to fix the road, electricity and industries, some of which have closed up and retrenched workers.

"The political class should fulfill their promises to the people because we will all give account on the day of reckoning which is fast approaching for everybody", he added.

The programme was attended by delegates from local governments and wards.
