Light Up Kwara Phase 2: Firm Releases Fresh Roll-Out Plan

Date: 2017-10-09

Riccofortezza-Asteven Energy Limited, one of the two firms executing Light-Up Kwara (LUK), the solar-powered streetlight project of the Kwara State government, has released its roll-out plan for the ongoing second phase of the project.

The Chairman of the company, Dr. Sunday Akpoyibo, who released the roll-out plan, disclosed that a total of 231 double-arm solar street lights (DSSLs) will be installed on 7.74km of road length, beginning from Offa-Garage roundabout to Geri-Alimi.

He said that the civil works component of the project, including casting and excavation will be covered between 6 and 28 October, while the streetlight installation will be done from 29 October to 12 November.

Akpoyibo also noted that the decommissioning of the existing 55 poles situated towards the Geri-Alimi end of the route will also take place simultaneously. It would be recalled that the second firm handling the LUK project, Rubitec Power Limited few weeks ago completed installation of streetlights along Kulende Estate Junction – Maraba, stretching through FCMB Muritala road while that of Surulere to Oja-Oba route is ongoing.

Other routes that will be covered by Rubitec are General Roundabout – Oja-Oba, Offa Garage – Unity roundabout, Michael Imodu - Offa Garage, Geri Alimi - CAILS, Emir's road – Post Office, Balogun Fulani - Gambari, Yebmot roundabout – Adeta roundabout, Abdulkadir road, Ilorin and other roundabouts within the Metropolis.

The company also urged members of the public who have any information or observation about the streetlights to call its customer service numbers on 08156572169 or 07037892573 between 8am and 10pm.
