APC sensitises electorate on PVCs, voters registration

Date: 2017-05-08

The Kwara South leadership of the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), yesterday charged electorates and members of the party in the state to approach the offices of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for registration and collection of their Voters Registration Cards (PVCs).

Speaking in Ajase-Ipo on Sunday during the monthly APC meeting of the district, the senator representing Kwara South senatorial district in the National Assembly, Rafiu Ibrahim called on the party supporters and electorates to go and collect their Voters Registration Cards (PVC) in preparation for 2019 election. According to him, we call on the people to come out, some who have just turned 18 or relocated and others that are yet to collect their PVCs to do so now. It is an ongoing exercise but we have to sensitise the people to come out early and get it done to avoid the rush that usually characterise its ending period towards election.

"There is still enough time because the exercise will run till 2019 but it is better to get it done now. The PVC is the weapon especially for the party during election. The era of writing result is gone and its now one man one vote and we implore our people to go and register", he added.

On the 2017 budget, the Chairman Senate Committee on Banking and Finance said NASS will pass it next week adding that the police raid on chairman, Senate committee on appropriation house, Danjuma Goje slowed the process.

"By the grace of God, we are going to pass budget next week but we all knew the police raid on Senator Goje's Abuja house. We have been hearing about whistle blowers but we have not seen anybody that blow the wrong whistle.

On the issue of Forex, Rafiu said the hope is for us to sustain the weekly intervention of the CBN and urged the country to continue to pray for President Muhammadu Buhari for God to grant him good health so as to be able to lead the country with the vigour and energy it required.

In his welcome address, the Kwara South Senatorial Chairman of the APC, Alhaji Jimoh Balogun said the party supporters should ensure they participates in the ongoing registration exercise and coming Census head count. Balogun called for continuous prayer for the party leader and Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki to triumph over his detractors.

At the event which took place in the party secretariat premises were state APC chairman, Ishola Balogun Fulani, Commissioner for Information, Babatunde Ajeigbe, his works counterparts, Aro Yahya, Hon Sikirat Anako, Hon Moshood Bakare, Hon Jimmoh Akani, Hon Matthew Babaoye, State woman leader, Hajia Ramat Oganija, Christopher Ayeni, senatorial chairmen for Kwara North and Central, Alhaji Isiaka Oniwa and Alhaji Jimoh Adesina, Chairman Kwara South APC Youth/Elders Forum, Alhaji Kola Yusuf among others.
