Kwara PDP denies plot to unseat Saraki

Date: 2017-04-05

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Kwara State, yesterday, dissociated itself and members from any plot to remove the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, from office.

The party also denied that its state chairman, Prince Sunday Fagbemi, had been compromised and co-opted into perceived plans to unseat Saraki.

The PDP, in a statement by Prince Fagbemi in Ilorin, said these in reaction to a statement credited to the state All Progressives Congress, APC, where it alleged that Prince Fagbemi had been compromised and co-opted into an alleged plot by some leaders of APC to remove Saraki from office.

Fagbemi noted that the crisis between the National Assembly and the Presidency was purely an APC affairs, which had nothing to do with PDP.

He added that PDP in Kwara State, which he leads, had no connection whatsoever with any leader of APC, either at the state or national level.

His words: "As a party which has the interest of the people at heart, our major occupation now is the preparation towards the forthcoming local government election in the state.

"We have put in place the necessary machinery to ensure that our party emerges victorious in the council poll and in the 2019 general election."
