Final prayer for late ex-minister holds on Saturday

The final fidau prayer for former Minister of State for Education, Alhaji Saka Saadu, is scheduled for Saturday in Ilorin, according to his eldest son, Alhaji Bolaji Saadu.

The late ex-minister died Monday after a brief illness at the age of 80.

Saadu, who served at different times at the federal and state levels until his death, was the proprietor of Unity International School, Gwarinpa, Abuja and Chairman Governing Council of Muhammad Kamaldeen University which is expected to kick off soon.

The late former minister was a strong member of Ansarul Islam society of Nigeria, former Chairman governing council, University of Ilorin.

Late Saadu read Chemistry from the University of Ibadan. He had attended Ansur Islam Primary School Ilorin, Middle School Ilorin (now Government Secondary School Ilorin), Barewa College Zaria, Nigerian College Zaria (now faced out), and then University of Dundee in Scotland for post graduate study in Chemistry.

He was also a teacher for many years. He taught at Government Secondary School Okene (now Abdulaziz Attah Memorial College Okene), Government Secondary School Ilorin, as well as Advanced Teachers College Zaria and Government Secondary School Omun Aran.

As a chemist, late Saadu loved Mathematics and Physics and was a co-author of the Nigerian Secondary Science project popularly known as CESAC.

He was awarded the national merit of OFR, and a commissioner of Environment in 1975 to 78 in defunct Kwara State, Permanent? secretary from 1979 to '88, Secretary to the Military Government and Head of Service in1988 to '90.

The late Saadu is survived by three wives and ten children.
