NDLEA Partners Kwara NANS To Curb Drug Abuse
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has pledged to partner with the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) to curb drug offences.
Mrs. Omotunde Koleosho, the Commander of NDLEA in Kwara, made the pledge in Ilorin when she received the executive members of NANS, Kwara Chapter, who paid her a courtesy visit.
Koleosho said NDLEA considered the fight against drug abuse and other related offences, especially among the youths in higher institutions of learning, as its highest priority.
She described the youths as the right instrument that NDLEA could employ to broadcast the campaign against drug use and abuse in the society.
Koleosho called on stakeholders in the crusade against drug abuse, to organise anti-drug week programme in all campuses to enlighten students on the dangers inherent in drug abuse.
She described the partnership between the two parties as a "must, a bold step and an excellent medium" to ensure a drug-free community in the society.
Earlier in his remark, Mr. Akorede Shakiru, the Chairman of the chapter, commended NDLEA for ensuring healthy living among the people through the arrest of drug dealers and destruction of illicit drugs.
Shakiru expressed optimism that the partnership would "strengthen and crown the efforts of the organisation in making campuses free from drug abuse and drug trafficking."
