FRSC deploys 2,500 officers for 'ember months' activities in Kwara The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), in Kwara, has deployed 2,500 officers to ensure hitch free 'ember months' activities in the state.

The Sector Commandant in the state, Mr Sunday Maku, stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ilorin on Wednesday.

Maku said the command was in top gear for the ember months in the state.

He said the command has since embarked on proper sensitisation visit to all stakeholders in the state on the need for people to be cautious while driving.

He also called on all road users in the state to ensure proper maintenance of their automobiles and desist from using fairly used tyres as well as substandard spare parts.

The commandant urged road users to avoid overloading and to stay away from hard drugs and alcohol whenever they want to use the roads.

He said that that the command would partner with all securities agencies in the state to ensure hitch free ember months.

He also called for attitudinal behaviours of all road users to abide by the rule and regulation of the road.

The sector command also noted that there has been proper sensitisation of all commands in the state to pulp for the action of the ember month.

He said further that there would be continuous sensitisation and reorientation of road users, saying that the campaign would be taken to mosque, churches, and even Club houses in order to avert untimely road crash for people in the state.

Maku revealed that the sector may impose January 2017 for the speed limiting device for road users in the state.

"Seventy per cent of road crashes are caused by speeding. I am, therefore, calling on all to ensure they install speed limiting devices in their vehicles without delay.

"The state command only recorded 10 to 15 deaths in the state since the beginning of this year, which has proven that the state command had been working tirelessly," he said.NAN
