Cultists lured Ilorin clash victims with phone calls - Police

Date: 2016-04-05

The Kwara State Police Command yesterday paraded 13 suspected cultists in connection with recent cult clashes in Ilorin, the state capital, and said that their victims were lured out with phone calls.

Rival cult clashes at the weekend allegedly claimed the lives of four persons in Ilorin metropolis. The clashes, according to sources, were sparked by a supremacy battle between the two gangs.

Speaking while parading the suspects, the Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Sam Okaula confirmed that three persons lost their lives during the street violence.

He said, "The cultists keep devising means of attacking their victims. They have recently been making use of motorcycles otherwise known as Okada; they also put calls to some of these victims, luring them to obscure corners and areas where they attack them."
