Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Mr. Ali Ahmad has described the sudden death of the Minority Leader of the Osun State House of Assembly, Mr. Oladejo Makinde as shocking and a colossal loss to the people of the State of Osun and political class in general.

A statement by his Special Assistant on Media, Shuaib Abdulkadir, said Ahmad described the late politician as a parliamentarian per excellence whose robust contributions at the floor of the House would be missed his by colleagues.

The Speaker urged Governor of the State of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, the Speaker of Osun State House of Assembly, Mr. Najim Salam and members of the state House of Assembly, his immediate family and the people of Ife Central to take solace in the fact that he lived a life worthy of emulation.

Ahmad also prayed God to grant the government and people of the State of Osun, the Speaker, members of the Osun State House of Assembly, his family the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss and grant the deceased eternal rest.

In another development, the speaker has sympathised with shop owners at Oja-Tuntun in Ilorin West Local Government Area of the state over a fire that gutted part of the market.

Describing the incident as a disaster that could have been averted, Ahmad called on government to urgently come to the aid of the shop owners in order to cushion the effect of the loss.

The Speaker further advised shop owners at the market to imbibe safety measures which would prevent future re-occurrence and ensure their goods and property were saved.
