Kwara Assembly approves state's new logo

Date: 2012-06-09

The Kwara State House of Assembly has given legal backing to the new state logo unveiled by the state Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, during the last Democracy Day celebration in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

The legislature's approval was sequel to a letter from Ahmed, which sought the legalisation of the logo for official use in the state.

The Majority Leader of the House, Hon. Abdulganiyu Abdulkareem, while moving the motion for the approval of the logo, noted that it was a good development that would enhance the image of the state and give a sense of patriotism to Kwarans wherever they may reside.

Abdulkareem commended Ahmed for the introduction of the logo, which, according to him, captures the core values of the state.

Dr. Felicia Oyeleke, representing Ekiti State Constituency in the Assembly, seconded the motion.

Reacting, Ahmed commended the legislature for the high level of patriotism and exemplary commitment to entrenching democratic ethos and core values of the people.

Ahmed said the state logo projects the potentials of Kwara State in agriculture against the backdrop of the abundant surface water, which could drive the economy of the state towards prosperity.

The logo, as explained by the governor, "was to bring a sense of belonging to Kwarans and showcase our diversities, our resourcefulness and strong desire to move forward as a people."
