Ilorin youths group drums support for Saraki
PIQUED by the recent disruption of activities at Ilorin Central Moslem Praying Ground, where some dignitaries were assaulted, members of Ilorin Emirate Youth Forum (IEYF) described the incident as "a show of shame" that would not be allowed to happen again.
Paying a courtesy visit on Alhaji Kayode Yusuf one of the political aides of the Senate President Bukola Saraki, the IEYF said they had put adequate measures in place to ensure that the desecration of the place of worship do not recur. It would be recalled that attempted attacks were made on Saraki and some highly-placed politicians during the last 'Sallah' celebrations in Ilorin but promptly warded off by the security personnel at the event.
According to the President of the forum Alhaji Olayinka Tejidini, "we are ashamed of the evil acts of those sponsored from outside to commit the sacrilegious acts during the last 'Sallah' in Ilorin. We are not noted for any act of brigand in Ilorin because we are peace-loving people.
However, we had apologized to Saraki and other eminent persons embarrassed that day. But we want to sound a note of warning to the sponsored youths from outside to make the show of shame the last of its kind in Ilorin. Our peaceful co existence with our neighbours should not be overstepped. If it happens again, we will rise up to the occasion.
"We are solidly behind him (Saraki), I mean all the youths in the five LGAs forming the Ilorin Emirate.
He is our brother and leader. People should stop misleading the public about our relationship with him. He loves us and we love him as well. The entire youth of this emirate are solidly behind him.
"We wand to embrace his leadership style that has endeared him to majority of his colleagues at the Senate who had within a spate of 120 days in office as the Senate President. On two occasions majority of the Senators had to pledge their supports to him publicly."
He thanked the Emir of Ilorin Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari for his peaceful approach to issues within the emirate, just as he urged President Muhammadu Buhari to ensure the sustainability of the existing work
able synergy between the Executive arm of government and the Legislative branch.Responding, Yusuf thanked the officials and some of the members of their entourage urging the to sustain the existing peace in the town. Besides, he promised prompt transfer of their messages to Saraki and all the officials of the state's ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC).
