Kwara OPC Rejects Kasumu

Date: 2015-07-07

The Kwara State chapter of Odua PeoplesCongress (OPC), has denied claim by National President of Afonja Descendant Union,Alhaji Olola Kasumu, that he had dumped Dr. Otunba Gani Adams.

The State Co-ordinator of OPC,Comrade Maruff Olarewaju Salam, who stated this in a statement made available in Ilorin said there was no time Kasumu was recognized as a co-founder of the group.

"We would have ignored his statement by OlolaKasumu, because of his present condition, but because of the general public and to put the record straight and to make public aware that he is being untruthful. OlolaKasumu joined the OPC in 1998; the same year I joined OPC. He was not among the 9 (nine) people that formed OPC in 1994.

"In the year 1998/99 OlolaKasumu started his hanky-panky game and by calling himself Baba Odua. When he failed to gain the position, he ran to a faction of the group led by Dr. Frederick Fasheun.

In 2001, he was the man who master-minded the crisis in by inviting Fasheun's OPC group to Ilorin, on October 4.When the mission failed, he was declared wanted. Thereafter he ran to Shagamu and late rhe was arrested but he was not prosecuted because of intervention of then Kwara state governor late Alhaji Muhammed Lawal, who happened to be his brother.
