Al-Hikmah University gets new VC
A new Vice-Chancellor has been appointed for Al-Hikmah University in Ilorin, Kwara State. He is Professor Muhammad Taofeek Olalekan Ibrahim. A statement by the institution's acting Director of Information, Dr Lateef Oladimeji, said the appointment of the 52-year old man was confirmed at the 17th meeting of the council.
The new vice chancellor succeeds Professor Sulyman Abdulkareem, whose five year tenure expired last week.
The new vice-chancellor is a Professor of Community Medicine. He was until his appointment a lecturer at Usman Dan Fodio University Teaching Hospital, Sokoto. He is a fellow of West African College of Physicians, FWACP(Community Health). Meanwhile, two valedictory sessions have been held in honour of the former vice chancellor.
The first session was held by members of the academic community comprising of college deans, departmental heads, units and centers, while the second valedictory session was held by the Governing Council of the university where pro-chancellor and chairman of the council, Alhaji Ibrahim Coomasie extolled the administrative and leadership qualities of Professor Abdulkareem.
