Date: 2015-03-29

The Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly and Director General of Kwara APC Campaign 2015, Barr. Razak Atunwa has expressed delight in the peaceful conduct of elections in Asa Local Government and Kwara state as a whole.

Atunwa who is also the candidate of the All Progressive Congress for House of Representatives, Asa/Ilorin West Federal Constituency made this known while speaking to newsmen during the voting session at his polling unit, Berikodo, Asa.

Atunwa lauded the Independent Electoral Commission for the use of modern technology in conducting elections stating that the elections are essential to providing a foundation for the people's choice to emerge through a transparent process, a government that will serve the needs of the people.

"I commend the Independent Electoral Commission for organizing a well coordinated and transparent poll, especially in light of the card readers been used to accredit voters. It's commendable and as you can see a lot of people have been accredited within a very short period of time".

"Also, the environment is peaceful and I believe that the situation is similar across Kwara because I am yet to hear of violence in any polling unit in Kwara; I really commend the people for the maturity and decorum exercised, this shows they truly understand our vote is our power not violence" he added.

Further speaking, Atunwa expressed serious optimism that the All Progressive Congress candidates will emerge victorious at all levels of the polls. He reinstated his commitment toward the progress of his constituency.

"I remain committed to the strong partnership with the people of my constituency and to achieving our shared objectives of improved health, shared prosperity, standard education, infrastructural development, agricultural development and effective and accountable government" he said.
