Ahmed's Wife Charges Women to Brace Up to Challenges
Wife of Kwara State Governor, Mrs Omolewa Ahmed, has called for the participation of more women in government's policymaking process.
Ahmed made the call in Ilorin at a programme organised by the Women Committee of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Kwara State chapter.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the programme was in commemoration of the International Women Day celebration.
The Governor's wife was represented by wife of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Hajia Khadijat Gold.
She charged women not to be deterred in the face of sundry challenges, but remain committed to the socio-economic emancipation of the country.
Ahmed also restated the commitment of the government to the empowerment of women with a view to putting them in their rightful positions.
A staff of the Michael Imodu Centre for Labour Studies, Ilorin, Mrs Omolara Folorunsho, described bias against women in the country as one of the reasons for their inability to compete favourably with their male counterparts.
