The Peoples D e m o c r a t i c Party (PDP) governorship fag bearer in Kwara State, Senate Simeon Ajibola has promised to rejuvenate the third tier of government in the state with a view to making it functional. Ajibola gave the promise while addressing the people of Alapa, Baala, Afon, Aboto and Efue in Asa local government area of the state during his campaign tour of the area.

He assured the people of the area that the PDP government would put a stop to deduction from local governments’ fund and make them functional as the closest to the people at the grassroots.

The governorship candidate lamented the deplorable condition of rural roads, lack of water and electricity in the rural community, promising to lay greater emphasis on the provision of infrastructure in the rural areas if voted into power. He told the crowd that his government would procure tractors in each of the 193wards of the State for the use of rural farmers.

His words: “It is time to put an end to the age long practice of farming with hoes and cutlasses especially by the old people in the rural areas”.

According to him, his administration would encourage mechanized farming among the farmers in the sate in order to improve on their farm inputs and enhance their financial status.

Ajibola further assured farmers that fertilisers would be made available for them at a very low cost as his government would subsidize the procurement. The Senator promised to build more classrooms and employ more teachers so as to improve the quality of educational standard.
