Protective charms won't aid your escape, Kwara police boss tells criminals
The new Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Salihu Garba, has said that belief in the use of protective charms by criminals will in no way, make them escape arrest by his men.
Speaking when he paraded three suspected members of secret cult groups, among other suspected criminals, who were nabbed with criminal charms in the state, the police boss said the charms had always failed them when least expected.
Other items found on the suspected cult members include one cut to size single barrel gun, one double barrel gun, eight live cartridges, four cutlasses, one dagger, one knife and criminal charms.
Also paraded were eight persons alleged to have gang-raped a 15-year-old girl in Ilorin, the state capital.
The commissioner disclosed that "in the course of investigations, three of the suspects were arrested and we are on the trail of the remaining suspects".
The Police Commissioner gave the names of the paraded suspects as Kadir Rafiu, Sikiru Jimoh and Mustapha Nasiru.
Mr. Garba also paraded a teenage girl who he said was a "habitual criminal" specializing in breaking into residences in the state capital.
The commissioner, who gave the name of the suspect as Issa Sukura, added that "on the 14th of October, the suspect broke into the residence of one Stella in Osin-Okete area of the metropolis."
"The above-mentioned suspect who tricked the complainant's children, gained entrance into the house and carted away personal effects. She was arrested and she confessed to the crime. Investigations revealed that the suspect is a habitual criminal. She will soon appear in court."
Items recovered from her include a bunch of keys, jewelries, 2000 Francs (CFA), old 50 Naira note, old six pieces of N10 notes and N100 notes and one Tecno T6o8 phone.
Also paraded were three persons suspected to be in possession of illegal firearms and items recovered from them include two cut-to-size guns and four locally made pistols.
The names of the suspects are Abdullahi Adebayo, Sikiru Jimoh and Amoudu.
Garba said the suspects were arrested on September 29th by "the men of the Special Anti Robbery Squad attached to Kosubosu, Baruten local government area of the state while on routine patrol."
