I will no longer contest elective positions - Bamigboye
A former military administrator of Bauchi and Osun states, Colonel Theophilus Bamigboye (retd), has said he has resolved to use the remaining part of his life to add value to humanity.
Speaking when he led members of the Rotary Club of Ilorin GRA on a courtesy visit to the secretariat of Correspondents' Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Bamigboye, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State, said there were other avenues to serve people than elective positions.
The PDP chieftain, who is also the new Charter President of the club, said he had used most part of his life to see to the oneness of the country as a military officer, adding that he had been working to ensure socio-economic development of the nation after his retirement from military.
"Now is time for me to leave the stage for the incoming generations seeking to contest elective positions in my state to come out and vie for the positions.
"When you start a dance, you must know that the dance will come to an end. So, I will no longer seek elective positions in my life again but rather devote the remaining part of my life to serve God, my family and development of humanity," he said.
He stated further that the Rotary Club of Ilorin GRA was formed to complement efforts of government at all levels and called on other stakeholders in the society to address issues of poverty, illiteracy and social well being challenges facing the people.
He said the club was an international organisation, comprising indigenes of different nations as members, adding that the club had been in the fore-front at addressing challenges confronting humanity with the aim of improving the standard of living of the populace.
He also said the club was not a social club but an organisation that comprised volunteers, made up of professionals and were determined to serve humanity and contribute to the social well being of the society.
