Distribution of PVC Is a Continuous Exercise - Says Kwara INEC

Date: 2014-08-21

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Kwara has said that distribution of Permanent Voter Cards (PVC) is a continuous exercise.

Jacob Ayanda, INEC spokesman, said in Ilorin on Wednesday that there was no need to extend the date for the distribution.

Ayanda, who is also Deputy Director, Voter Education in the commission said any eligible voter who was unable to collect his or her PVC could do so at the INEC local government offices.

There are 16 local government councils in the state.

"The collection does not require extension as the distribution of PVC is a continuous process, but at the local government level," Ayanda said.

He added that the electorate could still collect their cards even 30 days before the 2015 general elections.

The INEC spokesman said that the PVC distribution was a success in the state in spite criticism by some political leaders in the state.

Ayanda who agreed that there were some problems encountered during the exercise, said they were promptly solved.

He said the problems were discovered in the 76 polling units in the state where fresh registration would be carried out.

This, he said was due to the fact that the Bio Metrics of the Voters in the units were not properly captured, adding that no PVC were printed for them.

"The voters affected will be registered during the continuous voter registration slated from Aug. 20 to 25 at their polling units".

He assured the people of the state of INEC's commitment to conduct a hitch-free continuous Voter Registration in the state.

Ayanda called on those who have just turned 18 years and above to go to their registration areas, in their various wards and register as voters.

He also appealed to those who could not find their names in display register during the distribution of PVC to also endeavour to register at their wards.
