TEN states and over 150 school children within the Federal capital Territory (FCT) are currently taking part in the 2012 edition of the Aso Table Tennis Club Championship, holding at the Old Parade Ground, Area 10, Abuja.

The championship, which attracted participants from the North Central and North Western states of the country, according to the organizers, began with the veterans' game aimed at helping in the ranking of players within the club.

Speaking at a press conference on the games, president of Aso Table Tennis Club, Zachaeus Olusegun Ajuwon, said the annual table tennis championship since its debut in 2004 has grown from only eight people at its inception to as many participants as it has been able to absorb.

He listed states taking part in this edition as Benue, Nasarawa, Niger, Kogi, Plateau, Kaduna, Kwara and FCT, adding that the winners of the championship would be presented with a giant trophy and a cash gift of N50, 000, each for the male and female categories.

The president, who disclosed that two national table Tennis champions have been invited to participate in the competition, also revealed that the championship is featuring the cadet category in which pupils from about 15 junior secondary schools are competing for honours.
