Unilorin, UNN Intensify Research On Control, Cure

Vice-chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), Prof. Benjamin Ozurumba, has commended President Goodluck Jonathan for declaring a national emergency on the Ebola Virus Disease EVD).

In a statement at the weekend, he announced that the university was immediately convening a National Ebola Awareness programme to sensitize students of tertiary institutions on the precautionary and preventive protocols. He also charged relevant departments in the university to intensify research efforts on the disease.

Also, authorities of the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH), Ilorin, have set up a seven-man committee to sensitize members of the hospital community on the challenges of handling cases linked with the virus.

According to the chairman of the committee, Mr. S.A Lawal, the hospital has identified a section within the hospital where suspected cases would be kept and would collaborate with the Kwara State Government to get a secure location for the treatment of identified cases.
