He's fond of going through my calls, text messages, woman tells court.
A housewife, Ganiyat Isiaka, has prayed an Ilorin Area Court in Kwara State, to dissolve her marriage to her husband, Akeem for not trusting her.
Thirty-eight year-old Ganiyat, who resides in Baboko Area of Ilorin, Kwara State capital, prayed the court to dissolve her three-year-old marriage to Akeem over his persistent suspicion of her movements.
“My husband suspects every of my movement and keeps questioning me whenever I come back from my shop in the evening,’’ she said.
The petitioner told the court that her husband was fond of going through her cell phone to check calls received and dialled as well as text messages.
She said the marriage was contracted in 2011 and was yet to produce a child.
“My Lord, I want an end to this marriage because I can’t continue to live with a man who keeps suspecting my movement and doesn’t trust me,’’ said the plaintiff.
The defendant objected to the prayer of his wife, saying he was still interested in the marriage.
“I trust my wife but I have warned her against keeping bad friends and this had always prompted me to suspect her movement,’’ he said.
He prayed the court not to grant the prayer of his wife, saying, ‘’I promise to change and never suspect her anymore for the sake of my marriage.’’
The defendant begged the court to adjourn the case for him to make a reconciliatory move.
The judge, Mr Yusuf Abdulkareem, adjourned the case till Feburary 12 for a report of settlement or continuation of hearing.
