Kwara LP Guber candidate denies being sponsored by the presidency

Date: 2015-02-03

The governorship candidate of the Labour Party in Kwara State, Dr. Mike Omotosho, yesterday denied rumours making the round that he is being sponsored by the Presidency.

Omotosho, who recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, after losing the party’s ticket for the Ekiti/Irepodun/Isin/Oke Ero federal constituency ticket, is the coordinator of Jonathan Actualization Movement, JAM, in the North-Central.

In a chat with newsmen in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, the LP candidate said though he remained the North Central coordinator of JAM, he was not sponsored by anybody to spoil the chance of PDP candidate, Senator Simeon Ajibola.

“Like I said, I didn’t choose myself; the people did and you would agree with me that the voice of the people is the voice of God. For those that know me, for those that know my antecedent, you would all recognise that I have integrity.

The people said the opposition party hasn’t given them the alternative they want and they are providing the sure alternative in Omo to sure (his nickname),” he said.

Omotosho, who is the founder of Mike Omotosho Foundation, said he has “a huge dream of hope and possibility in Kwara State”, promising to provide free education for children, excellent health care and empower indigenes of the state to drive economic growth if elected in the February 28 election.
