VIO lost several documents to Kwara Poly violence

Date: 2013-06-06

Barely a week after the violent demonstration by Kwara State Polytechnic students over the accidental shooting of one of their students by a police officer, the Kwara State Vehicle Inspection Office (VIO) has disclosed that the office lost several vehicle documents as students set ablaze its headquarters along Sango-Oyun-Poly road.

The state Deputy Chief Vehicle Inspection Officer, Michael Bamidele, who made the declaration during an interview with correspondents, said the incident has affected the operation of the VIO, noting that many vehicle owners have been requesting for their documents.

Speaking on the way forward, the Deputy Chief said affidavit would have to be done for such people while other process would follow. He therefore appealed to affected vehicle owners to bear with the office as urgent steps are being taken by the office.

It would be recalled that Ahmed Adewale, a student of Kwara State Polytechnic, Accounting Department, was accidentally shot by a policeman which resulted into violent demonstration by the students of the institution in Ilorin metropolis.
