Heartland Ready to Pound Kwara

Date: 2013-03-27

Heartland attacking midfielder, Ikechukwu Ibenegbu has said there is no panic over his side's mid-week Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Matchday 4 at high-riding Kwara United in llorin.

The Afonja Warriors turned out to be the only NPFL side that notched up a road trip victory against Port Harcourt-based side, Sharks in a Matchday 3 game on Sunday while the Cup holders recorded the biggest win against Kaduna United at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri.

Ibenegbu, who scored a 75th minute free kick and assisted in two other goals in the 4-1 massive win against the Crocodiles, said his side are taking their hunt for three points on the road to the llorin-based side.

“We’ve already served the notice at Warri Wolves where we shared points and returned home to grab maximum points against Kaduna United. Now we have another mission to accomplish, beat Kwara United in llorin on Wednesday and grab our season’s first away win.

“We finished a whole season last year without an away win, we won’t stomach a repeat of that incident rather we want to break the jinx quite early this season.

“Kwara United are in high spirit after their shock 1- 0 win at Sharks in Port Harcourt. At their backyard they’ll be tough and will want to do everything humanly possible to consolidate the smooth run but we know we have to come all out, play the finest game and chance a win,” said the Nigerian playmaker to supersport.com.

Kwara United have garnered five points in the three-week old league from a maximum of nine while their opponents, Heartland have four points.
