Asking Me to Refund N5.9m Unfair - Yeketi
A member of the Peoples Democratic Party in Kwara State, Engineer Musa Yeketi, has exonerated himself from the allegation leading to order by the State House of Assembly to call for his removal and the refund of N5.9m to the coffers of Kwara State College of Education.
Until the recent development, Yeketi was the chairman of the governing council of the college, the post he assumed in March 2012, having been seconded from the State Polytechnic.
The grassroots politician stated that the order was not done in good faith, describing it as persecution and political intrigue.
The said order followed a petition sent to the lawmakers by the acting Provost of the college, Dr A.I. Ibrahim on February 7, 2013.
But Yeketi expressed his disgust at the house order which, according to him, indicated its sympathy for the petitioner. He, therefore, described as unfair the call for a refund of N5.9 million to the coffers of the institution.
The engineer clarified that the policy of both Kwara State Polytechnic and College of Education favours monetisation of official vehicles of the chairmen, adding that the acting Provost was at the governing council meeting where it was agreed that N3.9m be settled by the college because it was a loan for the purchase of the chairman’s official car used for his official assignments.
“As a matter of fact, the acting Provost was at the meeting and he did not raise any objection to the decision. Why he has turned this to a crime before the house remains a matter to be given a serious attention,” he said.
