Kwara Threatens Clampdown on Trouble Makers
The Kwara State Government has restated its resolve to bring the full weight of the law to bear on anyone or group that incites violence or otherwise takes the law into their hands under any guise.
In a statement issued in Ilorin following reported arson attacks on churches in the state capital by yet unidentified persons, the commissioner for Information and Communications, Prince Tunji Moronfoye condemned the attacks and stated that the state police command has been advised to identify and prosecute the perpetrators regardless of their status. Moronfoye stressed that the state government will not tolerate any further acts of criminality and threats to public order, emphasising that all legal measures will be employed to ensure that Kwara State retains its reputation for peace and harmony among its peoples.
The commissioner advised anyone with a grievance to employ dialogue as well as the courts of law as there can be no justification for wanton destruction of lives and prosperity under any guise. Development, he said, can only thrive when there is peace, adding that the state government will not allow trouble makers to distract it from its determined efforts to create economic prosperity for all Kwarans.
