Tinubu and Governor AbdulRazaq Meet in Abuja to Address Kaiama Security Crisis Following Deadly Bandit Attack
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq met in Abuja on Thursday to discuss the security situation in the state following the deadly bandit attack on two communities in Kaiama Local Government Area on Tuesday.
The assault, carried out by over 200 armed bandits, resulted in the deaths of more than 100 residents of Woro and Nuku communities within the local government area, with several houses also set ablaze during the invasion.
President Tinubu had previously ordered the deployment of an army battalion to the affected areas to prosecute counter-offensives under the codename 'Operation Savannah Shield'.
On Wednesday night, the Governor visited the communities for an on-the-spot assessment of the situation, accompanied by security chiefs and members of his cabinet.
At the time of the Governor's visit, 75 of the massacred residents had already been buried, while the search for other corpses yet to be discovered remained in progress.
DAILY POST reports that the bloody massacre in the communities has attracted both national and global condemnation.
In a related development, the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered the immediate deployment of tactical, operational, and intelligence assets to Kaiama and surrounding communities.
The deployment, according to the IGP, is aimed at restoring calm, strengthening security presence, and preventing further acts of violence.
