NPFL: Man of the Match Gidado Hails Kwara United's Return to Winning Ways
Kwara United midfielder Toheeb Gidado has described the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 16 victory over Niger Tornadoes as a morale booster.
The 'Harmony Boys' defeated the 'Ikon Allah Boys' 2-0 at the Rashidi Yekini Mainbowl Stadium in Ilorin on Sunday.
Babatunde Bright opened the scoring for Kwara United before the Niger Tornadoes defence failed to clear their lines, resulting in an own goal that secured the maximum points for the hosts.
Gidado, who won the Man of the Match award, missed a glaring opportunity to increase the tally for the Ilorin-based side.
Crucially, the victory ended Kwara United's four-game winless run in the league.
"I'm pained that I couldn't get on the score sheet. But these two goals by my team-mates will definitely boost our scoring form going forward," Gidado stated in a post-match interview.
