Nigerian Air Force Intensifies Airstrikes in Kwara, Targets Bandit Hideouts in Babanla, Oke-Ode
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has intensified its security operations in Kwara State, conducting a series of coordinated airstrikes on 28 September 2025 across key hotspots including Kakihun, Oke-Ode, and Babanla.
The air campaign combined targeted reconnaissance with precision strikes aimed at dismantling armed criminal networks operating in forested border zones.
In a major engagement east of Babanla, NAF air assets successfully identified and neutralised hostile elements through well-executed strikes, significantly disrupting terrorist logistics and movement.
Throughout the day, surveillance flights monitored strategic corridors and vulnerable communities, providing real-time intelligence to support ongoing ground operations by joint security forces.
These actions form part of an expanded strategy under Operation Fansan Yamma, designed to degrade banditry, rescue abductees, and restore safety in affected areas such as Ifelodun and Edu LGAs.
An NAF spokesperson reaffirmed the force's commitment to sustained air interdiction, stating: "Our operations will continue in synergy with army, police, and local vigilantes until lasting peace is restored."
Residents have welcomed the escalation, though authorities urge continued caution as fleeing suspects may pose temporary risks to nearby settlements.
