NPFL reschedules Sunshine Stars vs 3SC, Kwara Utd vs Enyimba games

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has announced a change in the schedule for the match day 16 fixture between Sunshine Stars and Shooting Stars, as reported by Daily Trust.

The match, which was originally set to take place on Sunday, 8th December, will now be played on Saturday, 7th December. Additionally, the NPFL has also announced a change in venue for the game.

The match will now be held at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, instead of the Otunba Dipo Dina Stadium in Ijebu-Ode. The NPFL made the announcement in a letter signed by its Chief Operating Officer, Davidson Owumi, on Wednesday.

The change in schedule and venue is expected to affect the teams' preparations for the match, but the NPFL has not provided any further explanation for the changes.

Part of the statement reads: “Going by the new arrangement, the South-West derby, initially slated for Sunday, December 8, will now hold 24 hours earlier, on Saturday, December 7.”

Similarly, the match day 16 game involving Kwara United and Enyimba International has also been postponed.

The game was postponed due to the involvement of the People's Elephant in the CAF Confederation Cup.

They will host Zamalek of Egypt at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Sunday, the same day the league match is supposed to take place.

“The anticipated NPFL25 Matchday16 clash between Kwara United FC and Enyimba Int'l FC, initially scheduled for Sunday, December 8, 2024, in Ilorin, has been postponed till further notice,” Kwara United wrote on X.

“This decision comes on the heels of Enyimba Int'l FC's progression to the second group stage of the CAF interclub competition. They're set to face off against Zamalek Sports Club of Egypt on the same day, December 8, 2024, at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.”

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye, has urged the 30 players invited to the Super Eagles B camp to showcase the quality and potential of the domestic league in the upcoming African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers against Ghana.

Coach Augustine Eguavoen invited 30 players for CHAN qualifiers against Ghana, with matches set for December in Accra and Uyo.
